Forza Street is a free-to-play, pick-up-and-play mobile racing title that brings console-quality graphics and a curated roster of real-world cars to quick, adrenaline-fuelled street races. Designed for short bursts of gameplay, it combines cinematic visuals with accessible mechanics, allowing players to jump into high-octane events and build their dream garage on the go.

As a UI Engineer on Forza Street, I was involved from the earliest prototyping phase right through to full production—experiencing every stage of game development, from feature design and implementation to bug-fixing and performance tuning. My primary focus was building out the UI screen-flow system: crafting seamless menus, pop-ups and in-game overlays that guide players effortlessly from one moment to the next.

On Forza Street, I not only shaped the look and feel of the game’s UI, but also developed tunable systems—like progression meters and reward loops—that drive player retention. By designing each feature to be data-driven and easy for non-programmers to adjust, we empowered the team to iterate rapidly on engagement mechanics well after launch. The result was a polished, performance-optimized mobile racer with a UI that felt both intuitive and deeply integrated with the game’s live-service roadmap.

Key Contributions

  • Mastering Unreal Engine’s UMG: Learning its widget hierarchy, animations and data-binding to architect a robust UI flow.
  • Rapid Iteration with Blueprint & C++: Prototyping screens visually in Blueprint, then profiling and migrating heavy logic into optimized C++ modules to keep frame-rates rock-steady on mobile devices.
  • Designing for Extensibility: Building ‘meta’ game features—progression tracks, reward unlocks and daily challenges—that could be tuned live by designers without code changes, ensuring long-term engagement.
